This Sunday, 30th July, 11.00 St Thomas Camelford join us for a Benefice service of Holy Communion. Rev’d Geraldine Ashton will be leading the service, with our Layreader Claire Salzmann preaching the sermon. Then, in the afternoon, a special chance to celebrate the end of St Teath Carnival, with a Flower Festival Songs of Praise in St Teath church, 4.00pm. The Choir are already gearing up, hoping you can join us for a final fling at the end of Carnival week!
It’s not every day you get to see two bishops and a landlord, so this was a very special occasion! We were delighted to host Bishops Philip and Hugh to explain current developments in the On The Way process to us. Friends from across the Deanery joined us for a bite to eat and an informal chat with both bishops in St Teath Church Hall. At the end, they had enough time to pop over to the White Hart to pull a pint or two. Here they are chatting with landlord Barry, who has been an active member of St Teath choir since the age of five. During that time, his duties have included being churchwarden, crucifer and bass in the choir. We’ve given Barry a framed picture of the event, which will hang alongside a picture of our old friends Derryn and Jem, also in their robes and pulling a pint.

Our three services around the Benefice on Sunday 25th June were at St John’s, St Julitta’s and St Teath. At St John’s and St Julitta’s, Rev’d Jeffrey led prayerful and reflective communion services. At St Teath’s Breakfast church, we reflected on being in step with Jesus. Here we see us laying our burdens around the cross and asking to be re-ignited with God’s love through the cross……..
Stubby’s Jazz Band came to St Teath on Saturday 24th June, with guests Bailey and Tom Jackson. Our hosts were Sue and Tom in the Old Vicarage Garden, with cakes, Pimms, Raffle and an audience of nearly 200. This fundraiser was to raise money for new bell ropes and we were delighted to exceed our target!
Stubby’s Jazz Band played a selection of big band numbers from New Orleans classics like Oh When the Saints, right through to Blue Train and Milestones. Bailey included three numbers from Oliver! ready for when she plays Nancy in St Teath School’s production next week. Tom treated us to some stunning improvisation work in standards including Ol’Man River and What a Wonderful World. A beautiful, quintessential, Cornish summer evening……. Our two Benefice services on 18th June were at St Thomas’ and St Teath. Rev’d Jeffrey spoke at both, reminding us that the disciples Jesus sent out were certainly an unlikely bunch, including a Rebel and a Collaborator. God worked through them both. Jeffrey also encouraged us that we too can be raised up on eagles’ wings if we spend time resting in God’s love for us. At St Teath, our choir supported the theme, both in a rousing version of Immortal Invisible, and in singing Michael Joncas’ song On Eagles’ Wings.
Early notice for those long summer afternoons……
They’ll be four Children’s sessions at St Teath over the summer to which parents and young children are warmly welcome. In between, we’ll keep the Children’s corner stacked with changing activities, so drop by any time the church is open (which is 9-5 most days). Here are the dates:

Our three services on Sunday 11th June had elements of St Barnabus in them. Rev’d Jeffrey led communion services in St John’s and St Adwena, celebrating and encouraging us in following the example of St Barnabus. At St Teath, lead by Claire, we worked through the practical implications of this. We were laying before God potential ideas for our future ministry, comparing it with the Deanery and Diocesan plans. Having done the praying through on Sunday, we’ll be looking at the nitty-gritty of the plans on Monday at PCC………
Our Trinity Sunday services were at St Teath in the morning and St Thomas in the afternoon. We were blessed with Rev’d Geraldine leading us in the morning, reminding us that God is near, whichever way we try to get our head around the idea! Sue lead an afternoon Songs of Praise with great enthusiasm, and some throwbacks to the 90’s!
