Happy Easter!
St Adwenna Dawn Service.
At 6.30 on Easter the Dawn Service was held at St Adwenna. The Rev. Prof. Andrew Lewis officiated & Katie played the organ. It was a sunny but extremely windy morning & lighting the Pastoral Candle from the fire was not easy, eventually the Candle was lit & the candle was blessed in the shelter of the porch. Then the congregation of 14 entered the dark Church as the candles were lit. Instead of a sermon a very fitting poem by George Herbert was read. After the Service we all indulged in bacon baps cooked by Lizzie Lewis.
This was indeed a very fitting beginning of the Easter Celebrations.
We had some wonderful celebrations throughout the Benefice on Easter Day, including two Sunrise Services (A bit more windy at St Johns than St Adwenna), great praise and celebration at St Thomas and St Julitta, then to top it all off, at St Tetha we had band and choir singing their hearts out in praise. Along with our regular team of Jeffrey, Geraldine and Andrew, it was delightful to have Rev’d Simon Bettersby come and take the service at St Tetha. Since then, the Easter message has continued, as for “Low Sunday” we first were joined with our Methodist friends at St Thomas, and then at St Teath we celebrated communion in the way we used to pre-pandemic, from the East End. Roll on Coronation, we’re ready for you!
